Christmas has come early to a local animal charity which is holding a festive market next week.

The RSPCA Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire branch is hosting a Christmas gift sale on Sunday September 26 at its rehoming centre, The Holdings.

The fundraiser has been organised by Ginger Cat Crafts, an independent business which sells cat-themed gifts and craft items to raise money for a number of local cat charities.

Claire Wood, a spokesperson of RSPCA Worcester, said: “Jane Fitzgerald, who runs this enterprise single-handed, all in memory of her beloved cat, Ginge, works tirelessly for these charities, ensuring that every penny raised goes toward helping cats in need.”

Some of the items that will be on sale include mugs, clothing, tree decorations, cards and stationary.

The event is the first “large scale physical event” organised by the charity since January 2020 and runs from 12pm to 3pm.

There will also be plants, bric-a-brac and furniture on sale at the RSPCA’s shop while refreshments courtesy of Commandery Coffee will be on offer.

Some of the money raised will be used to build a new kennel block that will host dogs that have been abandoned, abused, neglected or whose owners could no longer care for them.

Pamela Booker, branch secretary at the RSPCA Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire branch, said: “We look forward to welcoming anyone to our first Christmas stall at The Holdings.

“The event will give us a chance to celebrate with our supporters, including Ginger Cat Craft, as well as raise much needed funds for the centre.

“Plus, visitors will be able to put their hands on some serious bargains.”
