WORCESTERSHIRE pop singer Cher Lloyd has tweeted about comparisons made between her early music and ex-Little Mix Jesy Nelson's new song that has released today.

And she has also being showing she hasn't forgotten her roots by continuing to share posts of her life growing up in Malvern.

On Friday the 28-year-old was mentioned in more than 1,000 tweets after the release of Jesy's song Boyz.

Comparisons were drawn between Cher's early music and the track, which features Nicki Minaj and is launching the 30-year-old's solo career after quitting the record-breaking girl group.

Lewis Day wrote the song could have been a "Cher Lloyd album track from 10 years ago," while Simone added: "Not Jesy stealing Cher Lloyd's flow bar for bar."

After noticing she was trending in a series of tweets the Want U Back singer wrote: "Oh hi.

"Okaaaay. While you are here stream my newer songs. None of my business is a bop. It’s not 2010 any more."

Cher later tweeted she "didn't do drama" saying the 2010 comment had not been about Jesy's new song, clarifying: "My tweet was referring to people talking about my old music. Not anyone else’s."

Cher became a superstar almost overnight at the age of 16 after reaching the final of the X Factor in 2010.

She went on to release a string of hit albums and singles, including Swagger Jagger that shot to the top of the UK singles chart back in 2011.

Despite the rapper becoming internationally recognised, Cher has ensured her daughter Delilah-Rae shares the love for her home town and the wider county making regular trips home including to West Midlands Safari Park near Kidderminster and Tank Clock Tower in the Malvern Hills this year, and sharing the pictures online.

The superstar, who attended the Chase School and Dyson Perrins CE Academy, has been sharing pictures of herself when she was younger.

She wrote in a caption on an Instagram post in April: "I got the photo albums out and took a trip down memory lane."

In the summer the singer promoted her latest music Baddest, which she worked on with Grammy Award winner Imanbek while juggling motherhood with husband Craig Monk.
