A COUNTY school received a visit from the region's air ambulance.

Pupils at Upton Upon Severn CE Primary School met Charley Burke from Midlands Air Ambulance, who along with headteacher Julie Wills, told them about the lifesaving work of the charity.

A number of county schools, including Upton, have been working together to raise money for the charity, which does not receive government funding and relies solely on residents and businesses.

Mrs Wills said: "We never know when we may need this vital service and on average, the charity tends to a child every four days that is in need of urgent medical care.

"Schools came together and held a day called 'saving lives by wearing red'.

"The charity’s motto is 'Saving Lives by Saving Time'.

"This is the first time schools have worked together to support this charity and about 15 schools have so far held fundraising events."

In total, the schools involved have raised £2,968.00
