THE vicar of a city church has said it is "really sad" music equipment has been stolen from them - their second break in this year.

Reverend Jo Musson has appealed for help finding the thieves who stole a Fold Back speaker and a small mixing desk from St George's Church in Barbourne.

Pam Summers, churchwarden of the St George's Square-based church, said the theft was discovered by staff on October 8.

"The equipment was taken from a cupboard in the Magdalene Hall," the churchwarden said.

"It is shared with Claines church, they found it was missing last week. It must have been taken in the fortnight before.

"We use it for our cafe church event, a monthly casual worship event for families which includes music.

"It is a real shame.

"It is our second break in this year. We were broken into in August. We were surprised then because nothing was taken.

"We were having work done on the toilets - we think they must have been looking for the builders' tools on that one.

"We are not sure who broke in this time. The church is in a public right of way, so there are always people around here.

"Neighbours in the square have been really good supporting us. We are always surprised by the generosity of people.

"If they can help improve our security, or donate to replace the equipment that would be brilliant."

Rev Musson asked anyone spotting people trying to sell the equipment to get in touch with the church.

She said: "Please message me if you saw anything like this being removed from the Magdalene Hall at the side of St George's.

"We are really sad someone has done this."

A number of people sent messages on Rev Musson's social media post about the theft.

Christine Allen wrote: "That's rotten", while Alison Bownass said: "Oh that is very sad - do hope you can get the items returned."

Charlie Mansfield added: "So sorry to hear this Jo. I hope you can recover them."

Warndon police were contacted for comment but no one responded before our deadline.
