SPEEDING drivers are the bane of many neighbourhoods making roads unsafe for everyone else.

New average speed cameras have just been put up along the A449 between Hartlebury and Ombersley.

And so we asked our readers which roads around the city would also benefit from the cameras to slow drivers down.

There was a huge response with people saying certain roads were used as "racing tracks" and calling other roads a "nightmare".

Drake Avenue was a popular choice with readers Donna Fessey and Shawn Coombes who said: "Too many speed down there with kids around."

Max Gormley McNeil suggested Laugherne Road adding "It's used like a racing track!"

Roads with schools on them were a popular choice for having a speed camera installed.

Julie Taylor nominated Spetchley Road because of the high school and college while  Donna Sallis said Timberdine Avenue adding "With two schools down there it’s mad how fast people go".

Battenhall Road was another popular road with readers who felt it was often used by speeding drivers.

Barbara Tindell said: "Battenhall Road. Because from Red Hill Lane, right down to London Road, it’s a racing track for a majority drivers.

"It’s just a matter of time before somebody is killed by selfish drivers.

"SLOW DOWN please, a member of your family or someone very close to you could be the one to be fatally injured."

Kate Bennett felt that Cornmeadow Lane could do with measures to slow drivers down.

"There are far too many people speeding along there narrowly missing children attempting to walk along the ridiculous pavements that are overgrown.

"I won’t hold my breath though."
