KINGTON Town continued their fantastic start to the season with a 2-0 win over New Dales this weekend.

First half goals from skipper Jack Gittoes and Jake Robinson’s goals saw the hosts win their seventh in eight games in the Uhlsport Division Two West.

Their only defeat came three weeks ago to Shortwood United reserves, but since then they have picked up two wins and two clean sheets.

Gittoes has been in sensational form this season, averaging nearly two goals per game with 15 in eight matches.

He is the top scorer in the division by some distance.

“I’ve never felt this good and played this well in my life,” said Gittoes.

“To be scoring at such a crazy rate and helping the team out, it’s really great to see.”

Kington lead the way from Sporting Club Inkberrow, who have won six of six, but Gittoes firmly believes that the momentum can continue in the coming weeks.

“We didn’t think that we’d start so well, especially as we weren’t as good last time out.

“Everyone has come in this season and put a real shift in. From the experienced lads to the young lads, we’re all together as a group.

“You saw that at the weekend – New Dales are a good side, and it was a very good team performance.”

Kington’s next test is in the Herefordshire County Cup against Westfields, and Gittoes didn’t rule out a giant killing at Mill Street.

“All I will say is never say never. Westfields are obviously a very strong team with a good setup, but we’re in good form and if the ball falls for us, I would never write it off.”

Westfields are also in good form, winning their last six, so it should be an entertaining fixture in Kington on Tuesday.
