Preparations for the start of Light Night are well underway in Worcester today.

Four brand new, large-scale projections on city centre buildings, created specifically for Worcester, will be introduced this year alongside playful performances that will light up the surrounding streets from Tuesday to Thursday, October 19-21, from 6-10pm each evening.

The large projectors and sound systems that will bring the four city centre buildings to life with the bespoke work of four high-profile artists are fenced off and in place ready for the 6pm launch.

Teams were also handing out maps with details of the locations and timings for each event this afternoon.

Worcester's streets will be packed with revellers tonight as people rush to see the new luminous attractions.

Those travelling into the city centre have been urged to allow for extra time as road closures and increased traffic flow are set to cause delays.

Here's everything you need to know ahead of the big event.

Light Night comes as part of the Arches Festival programme of events which also included Same But Different (in July 2021) and In Memoriam (October 2020).

The festivals programme is part of The Arches Worcester project, with the festivals team being part of Severn Arts (one of the project partners).
