A HOUSE manager at a Worcester theatre was spat at, pushed and shouted at by an audience member who was asked to stop heckling actors.

A house manager at Worcester Theatres was pushed aggressively, verbally assaulted and spat at during a recent performance of Seven Drunken Nights on Sunday, October 24.

They had politely asked the audience member to stop disturbing other patrons during the performance by heckling the artists on stage and behaving in a disruptive manner.

Chief executive Sarah-Jane Morgan called the attack completely unacceptable."

A Worcester Theatres spokeswoman said: “The attack on a member of our staff was completely unacceptable.

"Nobody should have to face abuse when they are doing their job, especially being spat at given the current circumstances we are all facing.

"Fortunately this is a rare experience and not something we come across often.

"The individual was dealt with by our fantastic team and other patrons had a great experience watching the event.

"This issue aside, we have had a fantastic response from all patrons when returning to our theatres since we reopened.

"There is a real buzz and a new-found appreciation for live events which we love to see.

"We have so much to look forward to over the winter season and we’re currently working on the release of our next brochure, which is jam-packed with a huge variety of performances."
