A YOUNG woman from Kidderminster who claims she was spiked with a needle at a nightclub says more needs to be done to protect clubbers.

The 20-year-old, who does not wish to be named, went out to celebrate Halloween night with a group of friends on Sunday (October 31) at Bushwackers in Worcester.

The group of four, made up of two men and two women, have been friends since their days at King Charles I School and were enjoying their night out.

However, one clubber said his female friend complained that she felt a prick on her arm during the evening. She later collapsed outside the club.

The woman said she remembers being on the dance floor one moment, and the next on a bed at her friend's home.

Recalling the night, one of her friends said: "She was stumbling all over the place, hitting the walls."

"The second she went outside she collapsed to the floor. She was unresponsive

"We don't want to go clubbing again now. Anything could happen."

The victim said: "My arm felt a bit sore. I was quite sober, I only ordered three drinks when I checked in the morning.

"I went to hospital in the morning to check if it was anything serious. They did a check up on me and everything was alright.

"It's put me off going out a bit. Is it worth the risk?"

The friends have called on the club's management to conduct thorough searches before guests are allowed to enter.

The victim's friend added: "When you go in there, they check your ID but you don't get searched. There's no safeguarding.

"I think they should have a safe room, some kind of support. Or at least just search people."

Previously, the management of Worcester clubs Sin and Bushwackers issued advice to people coming into the club about how they can stay safe and report incidents.

A post on Sin's Instagram page said: "We have put a number of safety procedures in place to keep everyone safe in both Sin and Bushwackers.

"As well as these safety precautions, we also have female welfare officers in both clubs so all our customers feel safe.

"We fully support females staying safe in both our venues.

"If you see anything and don't feel safe, please don't hesitate to speak to a member of staff trained in helping others."

Worcester News has approached Bushwackers for comment.
