A popular sweet shop brand has received waves of online support from loyal customers after speaking out against people abusing their staff.

The team at Jessica's Sweet Shop took to social media to say they will no longer tolerate 'rude and abusive' behaviour while dealing with customer services issues.

This came after the family-run business said it had noticed a recent upturn in spiteful emails, phone calls and comments on their social media.

In a Facebook post, a staff member at their Halesowen head office wrote: "We feel the need to post this as lately we have received more than usual abusive emails, phone calls and comments on our posts.

"At Jessica's we strive to offer fantastic customer service and want to do our best to help all our wonderful customers, however when we are spoken to in a rude and aggressive way, we are unable to do so.

"We will no longer tolerate this behaviour. We are always more than happy to help and of course willing to rectify any of our mistakes.

"Please remember there are two real people behind emails, phone calls and comments who just want to do their best to give you a great experience when shopping with Jessica's.

"Customer Services hour operate between Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.30pm. Please enquire once and a member of our team will be there to help as soon as they possibly can.

"Lastly, we just want to say a huge thank you to all our brilliant customers, who are loyal to our family business. We look forward to being here for you all over the festive period!"

The post prompted a huge wave of support from the public with dozens of comments left by customers for the business, which does deliveries from its head office in Halesowen, and has a store in Mealcheapen Street, Worcester, and another store in Hereford.

Sarah Lancaster said: "Absolutely disgusting. You are the best sweet shop ever, offering amazing personal service and sometimes my only reason to go into town.

"You are one amazing team."

Ceri Tanner added: "I’ve never had any problems, you have always sent products out excellently packed, and the service is quick.

"It’s a shame some people feel the need to act in this way."

Meanwhile, Emily Brierley responded: "I've always had nothing but kindness from you guys!

"Even when DPD mess up you've always done absolutely amazing. Such a great business and products, such a shame people are awful."
