TWO areas of Worcester have moved into the second highest Covid 'hotspot' category it has been revealed.

But Public Health England's (PHE) coronavirus 'hotspot' map shows other areas have seen a fall in coronavirus cases in the latest week of data up to November 5.

Areas with infection rates between 400 and 799 cases per 100,000 people are placed in the second highest purple 'hotspot' category by the PHE. Among the areas that moved into this category are:

Lyppard Grange that has an infection rate of 606.2 per 100,000, with 36 cases recorded that week.

Barbourne and Rainbow Hill that has 460.7 cases per 100,000, with 37 new cases.

Staying in the category are:

Warndon West that has an infection rate of 719.7 per 100,000 - the highest rate in the city - recorded 39 cases.

King George's Field that has an infection rate of 493.3 cases per 100,000 with 44 cases.

Northwick that has 498.9 cases per 100,000, with 40 new cases.

Dines Green and St John's that has an infection rate of 400.6 cases per 100,000, with 35 new cases.

Infection rates of between 200 and 399 cases are placed in the third highest blue ‘hotspot’ category on the coronavirus map.

Dropping into this category are:

Warndon East with 365.8 cases per 100,000 and 23 cases recorded.

Battenhall and Diglis with an infection rate of 285.9 cases per 100,000, with 24 cases recorded.

Staying in this category are:

Worcester Town North with an infection rate of 234.4 cases per 100,00 with 18 cases recorded.

Worcester Town South with 216.2 cases per 100,000 and 16 cases recorded that week.

Ronkwood and Nunnery Wood with 215.8 cases per 100,000 and 14 cases recorded.

Henwick with an infection rate of 325.1 cases per 100,000 with 18 new cases.

Lower Wick and Bromwich Road dropped into the the fourth highest, light blue 'hotspot' category with an infection rate of 185 per 100,000 - the lowest rate in the city - and 15 new cases.

The total number of cases in Worcester was 388 in that week, a 29 per cent drop compared to the week before.
