NUMEROUS crashes along a major dual carriageway has damaged safety barriers and led them to be replaced.
The dented metal barriers in along a section of the A449 near Claines are being replaced after years of car crashes have left their mark.
Safety barriers in the centre of the northern link dual carriageway are being replaced from Claines roundabout to the exit or entrance of Blackpole Road.
The work is due to continue until Monday, November 29 with one lane closed in each direction.
The lane closures have caused delays at Claines roundabout during the morning and evening rush hour.
One lane in either direction of the A449 between Claines roundabout and Sixways has been closed off.
A spokesman for Worcestershire County Council said: “We are aware there have been a number of road traffic incidents along this road in recent years and keeping our residents safe is always a top priority for us.
"We can confirm we are currently carrying out safety repairs to the central reservations barriers in this area.”
