FOUR areas have moved into the highest category Covid 'hotspot' category after a rise in cases across Worcester.

But Public Health England's (PHE) coronavirus map shows other areas have seen a fall in coronavirus cases in the latest week of data up to November 25.

Areas with infection rates above 800 cases per 100,000 people are placed in the highest black hotspot category on the coronavirus map. Places in the category include:

Warndon East which has an infection rate of 906.5 per 100,000 with 57 cases recorded that week.

Northwick with an infection rate of 985.4 per 100,000 with 79 cases.

Barbourne and Rainbow Hill with an infection rate of 834.3 per 100,000 with 67 cases.

King George's Field with an infection rate of 829.8 per 100,000, with 74 cases.

Those four areas join Warndon West, which was already in the category and which has the highest rate in the city - 996.5 cases per 100,000, with 54 cases recorded that week.

Areas with infection rates between 400 and 799 cases per 100,000 people are placed in the second highest purple 'hotspot' category by the PHE. Moving into the category is:

Lyppard Grange which has an infection rate of 707.2 per 100,000, with 42 cases recorded that week.

Lower Wick and Bromwich Road which has an infection rate of 592.1 per 100,000, with 48 cases recorded.

Worcester Town North with an infection rate of 455.7 per 100,000, with 35 cases.

Worcester Town South which has an infection rate of 486.6 per 100,000, with 36 cases.

Staying in the category are:

Battenhall and Diglis which has an infection rate of 571.7 per 100,000, with 48 cases.

Dines Green and St John's with an infection rate of 469.3 per 100,000 with 41 cases.

 

Infection rates of between 200 and 399 cases are placed in the third highest blue ‘hotspot’ category on the coronavirus map.

Moving into this category is Ronkswood and Nunnery Wood with 215.8 cases per 100,000 and 14 cases recorded.

Meanwhile Henwick dropped into the fourth highest, light blue category with an infection rate of 162.5 per 100,000, with nine cases recorded - the lowest rate in the city.
