A Worcestershire based GoFundMe campaign has been set up in memory of a puppy.

The page has raised more than £2,000 in five days to pay for vet's bills after the puppy called Luna died.

Donators wanted to ensure that a charity that helped look after Luna was not left with a huge bill.

Behaviorist at the Senior Staffy Club, Charlene McQuoid-Guess, started the campaign on Saturday, November 27, in memory of the 16-week old Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy.

The campaign had the goal of raising £2065.00 to cover Luna’s veterinary bills, which has now been met in just five days.

Luna was surrendered to Charlene on Friday, November 19 by her former owners, in a very poorly state due to complications in breeding.

She required nursing around the clock, regular injections under the skin and multiple rounds of medication every day.

The puppy took a turn for the worst after vets suspected she had a complex hernia, and died on the vet's table before she could be operated on.

Charlene said, “She was doing so incredibly well after a while and seemed to be perky and putting on weight every single day.

“On Friday 26 November, we rushed her to the vets, but sadly we may never fully know what happened or how she died.

“It was heart-breaking to lose one so tiny and young, I really thought I was going to be able to get her better.”

Charlene was helped by Ravens Rescue UK to get Luna the help she needed and set up the GoFundMe in Luna’s memory, so the charity was not left with the vet bill.

Charlene added, “My customers have been absolutely amazing and restored my faith in humans by raising over £2,000 to cover all her costs.

“Ravens Rescue UK do some amazing work taking on dogs and cats with all sorts of issues.

“They’ve recently had some huge vets bills as a result of the work they do so it was lovely to see people coming together to support them in this way.”

Charlene has pledged that any extra money donated to Luna’s fundraiser will be sent directly to Ravens Rescue UK, to help other animals in need of care.
