WORK is continuing at an 'unfinished' housing estate as a deadline for it all to be finished rapidly approaches.

Weogoran Park is not complete years after work started but the developer told us in early November final touches were underway with a 12-week deadline set.

Developer St Modwen even said work could be completed by Christmas.

Among the problems on the estate are unfinished roads with high kerbs and drains, street lights not switched on and crumbling pavements causing tripping hazards including potholes.

A Worcester News reporter returned to the estate this week and noticed progress had been made with some roads and pavements appearing finished.

One resident, in Beltex Drive, had previously complained a cone was buried in their road where a street light was meant to be, and the reporter found the street light was now in.

The reporter also saw two workmen at the estate, appearing to be working on a pavement just passed Brecknock Close.

Worcester News:

But many other roads and pavements remain unfinished.

These include the Romney Way entrance road to the estate off Whittington Road - where there are still high kerbs and unfinished pavements - and the road in Dalesbred Place.

We contacted the developer to ask whether the work was still on schedule.

St Modwen declined to comment, instead  pointing us to the original statement that said: "We have already been in dialogue with residents regarding completion of the road works at the first phase of Weogoran Park in order to give notice that said works were commencing, and have commenced, on November 9.

"The scope of works was agreed with Worcestershire County Council in October following the completion of the neighbouring care facility in August.

"The works will be completed over a 12-week period. Works include kerb replacements and footpath tarmac repairs, final road surfacing, street signage and lighting.”

The 120-home Weogoran Park development has had various issues over the years, including when residents said builders parking around the estate meant they were forced to wait more than 20 minutes on the busy Whittington Road section of the dual carriageway.
