Firefighters took part in some unusual training this weekend.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews took part in hazmat training on the afternoon of Saturday, December 4.

The crews from Worcester and Droitwich had to use some specialist equipment as part of the exercise.

This training was designed to help the service understand how to use the equipment to protect and decontaminate at chemical incidents.

Meanwhile, on the same day, new recruits for January 2021 were treated to a very belated welcome event having completed their course during the pandemic.

Jon Pryce, HWFRS Chief Fire Officer, tweeted: "A belated (covid!) welcome event today for the wholetime recruits Jan 2021.

"They completed their course with pandemic restrictions in place, making it even tougher.

"A superb cohort of (now) Firefighters, great to meet their families today.

"Good luck for your careers and well done."
