A PEOPLETON school has been nominated for the Worcestershire Education Awards.

Bowbrook House has been nominated by local parent, Tamar Hughes, for the independent school award.

She said: "I moved my son to Bowbrook in September.

"It is more than a school, it's a community.

"You can feel the values of the school everywhere you go - they are not words on a piece of paper.

"He found school very challenging and was always anxious, feeling like he wasn't good enough.

"Since moving him to Bowbrook he has been encouraged and supported to try new things.

"In the first week, the SEN teacher identified that he needed to see a behavioural optometrist who perscribed glasses and coloured lenses.

"There is a real care and and compassion for each child.

"The focus at Bowbrook house, is on finding the passion and talent of each child and helping them to flourish.

"He now participated in team sport (he was always too anxious to do this) has found a passion for rugby and sewing and is encouraged every day to have a go!

"I'm just so impressed with how incusive the school is.

"I recommend it to everyone - it's really changed my sons life."

Headmaster Chris Allen said: "Having already been informed that Bowbrook House School has been nominated in the 'School of the Year' category at the Worcestershire Education Awards, we are absolutely thrilled to learn that we have also been nominated in the category of Independent School of the Year.

"It is always an honour to be nominated in these awards and to be considered worthy of nominations especially from parents and pupils.

"Bowbrook House School embodies its motto of 'Work with Pride', focusing on each individual pupil, their learning journey and their personal successes.

"We count these successes as academic, sporting and individual achievements.

"For me as Head the 'personal journeys' are the real success although great exam results are nice too!

"As we have been watching rehearsals for our annual Christmas Concert, it is witnessing the journeys of each individual child who have been part of the Bowbrook family.

"It is being part of Bowbrook that has helped to steer these pupils through the difficult past 18 months, emerging safe and flourishing.

"We are really incredibly excited and honoured to be nominated and would be humbled and elated to win awards in these categories."

The awards, run by our Worcestershire titles including the Worcester News, Malvern Gazette and Evesham Journal, aim to shine a light on those in education who have worked tirelessly to support, teach and care for our young people through what has been an incredibly difficult time.

There are 12 categories in our Worcestershire Education Awards 2022.

Voting closes on Friday, December 17, and our panel of judges will choose the finalists, who will be featured in our titles.

The winners will be announced during a virtual ceremony in early 2022.
