THE area with the biggest rise in coronavirus cases in Worcester has been revealed.

And the latest all settings figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) show 10 people from the county died of coronavirus in a week.

Public Health England (PHE) said 670 new Covid cases have been recorded in the city in the week up to December 8, a rise of 9.1 per cent on the previous week.

Ronkswood and Nunnery Wood, which covers WR5 postcodes including Newtown Road, Wildwood Drive and Silverdale Avenue, saw the biggest rise with cases up 72 per cent to 43 cases.

Lower Wick and Bromwich Road, which covers WR2 postcodes and includes sections of Bransford Road and Malvern Road, are up 61.1 per cent with 58 cases were recorded that week

Third highest area is Worcester Town North, which covers WR1 postcodes that includes the city centre including Castle Street, The Tything and Foregate, where cases are up 60 per cent, to 40 cases.

And fourth highest area was Henwick, which covers WR2 postcodes including Hylton Road and Hallow Road, where cases are up 31.2 per cent to 21 cases.

Lyppard Grange saw a 20 per cent rise, Warndon East was up 18.4 per cent, while Dines Green and St John's saw a 12.8 per cent rise.

Meanwhile Warndon West, which covers WR4 postcodes including Cranham Drive, Chatcombe Drive and Landgale Drive, saw the largest fall, dropping to 33.3 per cent.

Barbourne and Rainbow Hill, which covers WR3 postcodes including Lansdowne Road, Bilford Road and Astwood Road, had a fall of 13.3 per cent to 48 cases.

Battenhall and Diglis, which covers WR5 postcodes including Battenhall Road, London Road and Spetchley Road, had the third largest fall of 12.7 per cent.

And Northwick saw the fourth highest fall in the city, dropping 5.3 per cent to 72 cases.

The ONS data shows the 10 deaths took place in the week up to December 3.

In comparison nine people from Worcestershire died with Covid-19 mentioned on the death certificate in the previous week.

One person from Worcester, two people from Wychavon died and one person from Malvern Hills died - all in hospital.

The 10 deaths, in the week up to December 8, means a total of 1,486 have so far died from Covid-19 in 'all settings' in Worcestershire.
