With 2021 drawing to a close and the prospect of tighter Covid restrictions looming on the horizon, now’s the perfect time to look ahead to what 2022 has to offer.
Some fantastic festivals and events have already been announced in Worcestershire although everything is, of course, subject to whatever Covid rules are in place at the time.
Royal Three Counties Show
The Royal Three Counties Show is a huge event and attracts thousands of visitors from across the country to the Three Counties Showground. Organisers will be hoping against hope that the show can go ahead next year after cancellations in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid.
All being well, the show will run from June 17 to 19, 2022. Some of the UK’s finest livestock will be on show while in the main arena, the Red Devils Freefall Team and the Bolddog Lings Motocross Stunt Display Team will perform daredevil stunts.

Lakefest
Lakefest returns to Eastnor Castle Deer Park from August 11 to 14, 2022. The family-friendly festival has already announced a host of big names for next year’s main stage including UB40, Manic Street Preachers, Leftfield, Reef, Louise Redknapp and The Feeling.
The 2022 dance stage, A Retrospective of House, will feature Mark Doyle of Hed Kandi, Radio One’s Charlie Hedges, Tall Paul and more.

WooTown
Described as Worcester’s first bass festival, WooTown Festival 2022 will take place at Sixways Stadium on Saturday August 27. The 2021 event featured performances by Skeptical & SP:MC, S.P.Y & MC Lowqui, and Kings of the Rollers & Inja.

CountryTastic
An action-packed event with the countryside at its heart, CountryTastic takes place at Malvern’s Three Counties Showground on April 14 in the Easter holidays. Aimed at under 10s, there will be tractor and trailer rides, a pottery workshop, farm kitchen, bee and butterfly displays, willow weaving, a play barn, cricket taster sessions, crafts and more.
Children will also love the opportunities to meet and learn about animals including ponies, donkeys, sheep, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, gundogs, ferrets and pigs.

Elgar Festival
Next year’s Elgar Festival, which celebrates the music of Worcester’s favourite composer, takes place over the Bank Holiday weekend in June (Thursday 2 to Sunday 5) to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Elgar’s Symphony No.1 and Spirit of England are among the major orchestral and choral works already announced. A world premiere by David Matthews has been promised, as has a performance of Ian Venables’ Requiem, the critically-acclaimed new work by Worcester’s own living composer.
Cotswold Olimpicks
Another event that was cancelled in both 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic, Robert Dover’s Cotswold Olimpick Games is scheduled to take place on Friday June 3, 2022. Home to the World Shin Kicking Championships, the games are a popular throwback to early rural sporting events.
As well as shin kicking (straw shin pads are allowed but steel toe caps are not), there’s the Tug O’ War, King of the Hill and Championship of the Hill, and running races.
Festival of Water
The annual Festival of Water takes place at Perdiswell Park in Worcester, along the banks of the Worcester and Birmingham Canal. Last year, more than a hundred canal boats lined up for the August Bank Holiday weekend event.
The Inland Waterways Association has yet to announce details of the 2022 event so keep an eye on the Worcester News for the latest information.
Evesham Food Festival
This popular food festival will take place over the weekend of May 7 and 8 at the Crown Meadow in Evesham, a town known for its rich diversity of produce, particularly asparagus.
There’ll be entertainment from local bands, breweries, cider and gin distillers, live cookery demonstrations, chilli-eating contests, baking competitions and more.
