TWO men have been arrested and an air rifle has been seized as police swooped on a car near Worcester.

At around 10pm on January 6, officers stopped the car on the A449 near Powick.

This followed an earlier report of a group with a weapon at the skate park in Oldbury Road, Worcester.

Following the stop, an air rifle was seized and two men, a 22 year-old from Worcester and a 27 year-old from Droitwich were arrested.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "Around 10.15pm yesterday, officers received a report of a group in possession of a weapon near the Stake Park on Oldbury Road, Worcester.

"Officers attended, conducted a search of the area and identified a car of interest on the A449 towards Powick.

"The car was stopped and an air rifle was recovered.

"Two 22-year-old men from Worcester and a 27-year-old man from Droitwich were arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded or unloaded or imitation firearm or air weapon in a public place and released on bail.

"No injuries were reported and enquiries are ongoing."
