A teenager who pleaded guilty to carrying drugs and a machete in Worcester city centre is set to receive his sentence.

Magistrates heard how the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was found with a 'sharply pointed' machete in Tybridge Street on Sunday, April 18, 2021.

He was also found to be in possession of cannabis by officers on the same date.

The defendant pleaded guilty to both charges on Friday, November 26 at Worcester Justice Centre and was due to be sentenced last Wednesday (January 5).

However, the case was yet again adjourned until February 2 at Worcester Justice Centre for a pre-sentencing report to be prepared.

He'll also be sentenced for additional, separate charges on the same date after being convicted of further offences at Lancashire Youth Court in October.

The teenager was again found guilty of having a machete at Chorley Railway Station on August 19 last year, just months after originally being caught with a similar weapon.

He was also found to have had eight grams of cannabis in his possession and to have used threatening and abusive language and behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress.

He's now been remanded on conditional bail until the next hearing and is prohibited from entering Lancashire for any reason in order to prevent further offending.
