POLICE have released an update into the death of a woman who died on The Tything in October.

Maria Janik was walking along The Tything, near the junction with Castle Street, when she was hit by a black Vauxhall Astra.

The crash happened on Saturday, October 30 at about 10.15pm.

She was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, where she later died.

West Mercia Police has released an update to say they are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash.

They added that the driver is being fully cooperative with their enquiries.

A spokesman said: "Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances of a collision between a car and a pedestrian on The Tything, Worcester on 30 October 2021 that sadly led to the death of a woman.

"A family liaison officer has been supporting the woman’s family at this difficult time.

"The driver of the car has been fully cooperative in helping police with their enquiries."

Her family described the 51-year-old as a "beloved mum and grandmother" in a statement released after her death.

The statement, translated from Polish, reads: "It is with deep regret that on November 1, 2021, the most beloved mother, grandma, daughter, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, died tragically 51 years old.

"For those who would like to go to the scene of a tragic accident in Worcester - The Tything... where flowers can be laid at the place of her last steps."

Miss Janik, from Southfield Street, Worcester, moved from her home country to the city three years ago.

Bouquets of flowers were left on the corner of The Tything and Castle Street for Miss Janik who worked as a cleaner for several employers.
