A MAN who was not able to be with his father as he died due to Covid restrictions has slammed Boris Johnson's apology over a Downing Street party.

Richard Hughes from Worcester said he felt deceived by Boris Johnson's answers to questions about a garden party at Downing Street on May 20.

Mr Johnson admitted being at the gathering - held in the garden at number 10 - but said he thought it was a work event and therefore 'technically' within the rules.

Mr Hughes said: "The response from Boris is what you expect.

"He was dodging the questions, trying to buy time - he's an expert at lying and deceiving.

"He has the body language of a guilty man who knows he's been caught.

"The response is unsatisfactory. He's a master of distraction and answering questions he hasn't been asked.

"In my opinion, he is too much of a narcissist to resign but it's going to be difficult for him digging himself out.

"This won't go away."

Richard's father, Edward, died, aged 93, due to covid on April 13 2020. He was in a care home and he believes that more could have been done by the government to prevent covid getting into nursing homes.

On May 20 he was planning his father's funeral - and the family were unable to have a wider celebration until a year after his father's death.

Richard, from Worcester, added: "He acts like King of the playground.

"It's to do with moral standards.

"After denying the party and then having to come clean and admit he was there, it makes him look stupid and dishonest.

"It's at a stage where he can't deny it because everyone knows what happened, he's put on the spot.

"He's just buying time by saying he will wait for the report of the enquiry.

"Bearing in mind this goes back to May 2020, what else is going to come out?

"It's worked so far that he's had so many scandals and distractions that people forget what's happened.

"But this time I think he's running out of distraction techniques.

"In fairness to the government, the vaccine roll-out was successful and a great distraction.

"But, my brother works in a hospital and he believes the only reason the vaccine roll-out has been so successful is because they handed it over to the National Health Service and now they are taking credit for that.

"The scandals are all piling up now and he's running out of get-out-of-jail-free cards."
