A SIXTIES cover band has had thousands of pounds of equipment stolen including a drum kit which was the same as Ringo Starr's.

Thieves pulled into a farm in Hanbury and attached an Ifor Williams trailer to their Land Rover Freelander before making a getaway.

However, The Reflections' drummer Andy Ford suspects they did not realise his trailer was filled with equipment including the expensive drum kit.

Inside the box trailer was £8,000 worth of equipment including the Worcestershire band's PA system, lights and Mr Ford's drum kit.

The drum kit is a Ludwig FAB22 in vintage black oyster and is the same as Ringo Starr used in The Beatles.

The theft took place on Thursday, January 6 at 7.50pm and was caught on CCTV which has been passed to police.

Mr Ford said: "It has been quite stressful.

"Fortunately, January is generally quite a quiet month for bands so it has come at a time when we haven't got too many gigs.

"Our next gig is at the Sociable Beer Company in Worcester and I'll have to use an old drum kit and they do provide a PA there which is useful.

"Moving forward though, it depends on the insurance.

"Although we have insurance it is not always easy to get everything back again.

"We are talking to them at the moment and hope to get new equipment at some point."

Mr Ford, a founding member of The Reflections, said it was the first time the band had ever had equipment stolen in 27 years.

"We've never had any trouble before at the farm before and we've never had anything stolen so it was a bit of a shock to find it missing.

"I don't think they knew what was inside, they just got lucky.

"I'm not sure what they will do with the equipment and they probably don't know what they will do with it either.

"They're going to have difficulty getting rid of it.

"We've spoken to music shops and shared it on our Facebook page too.

"What we have been really grateful for though is the number of people who have contacted us and shared our post.

"I'd like to say thank you to them."

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting reference number  22/2466/22.

The Reflections play The Sociable Beer Company in Worcester on Friday, January 28.
