A COUNTY firm has planted nearly 4,000 trees as part of a year-long initiative.

OLPRO, based in Little Witley, has planted 3,862 trees in the first year of its carbon neutrality plans.

These have been planted in countries including Madagascar, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Uganda and Kenya.

The company said the move has offset 11.31 tonnes of carbon, with other projects including preserving the Amazon rainforest in Brazil and restoring forests in Papua New Guinea.

Daniel Walton, founder of OLPRO said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the early impact of our tree planting initiative.

"Everybody has enjoyed following our progress throughout the year, from staff to customers, and we can’t wait to see what more we can achieve in the year ahead."

The tree-planting initiative continues in 2022, with OLPRO planning to plant a tree for every sale of its new backpack range.

Mr Walton added: "By including our new range of backpacks within the tree planting initiative, we expect to see OLPRO have an even greater impact on positive environmental projects taking place across the world and that’s something we’re all very proud of."
