A PLAN to build more than 40 homes in a village has been put forward.

Up to 42 homes could be built in Fernhill Heath as part of plans by developer William Davis Homes.

The homes would be built on just under five-and-a-half acres of fields off Dilmore Lane in the village between Worcester and Droitwich.

The revised application follows plans revealed last year by the developer to build up to 50 homes in the village.

A mix of two-to-five-bed homes would be built as part of the development – including affordable housing – as well as one-bed maisonettes and two bungalows.

A statement included with the application said: “The development of the site will provide 42 new homes, in a range of sizes and tenures to meet both demand and future market and affordable housings needs in the locality.

“The development seeks to use the land efficiently, making the most of opportunities to retain the inherited features, mature oak trees and to enhance and reinforce boundary hedges blend the development into the wider landscape.”

Plans to build 40 homes on land between Sling Lane and the Old Drive off Droitwich Road in the village were approved by Wychavon District Council in 2019.

A hugely controversial plan to build six homes on land behind Fernhill Heath War Memorial Club off the village’s Droitwich Road was rejected by the council last year after receiving more than 150 objections.

The latest scheme can be viewed via the planning section of Wychavon District Council’s website.

The application number is 21/02974/FUL.

Public consultation ends on February 17.
