The 39-year-old admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm against Carl Eades and having an offensive weapon - a crowbar - in a public place, Flag Meadow Walk in Worcester, on November 18 last year.

We reported on Friday how his co-defendant, 32-year-old Dean Hart also of St George's Lane North also admitted the ABH and possession of an offensive weapon (a glass bottle) in connection with the same incident.

A third defendant, Matthew Lambon, 27, also of St George's Lane North pleaded guilty to the assault and a weapons charge at an even earlier stage.

Gormley's barrister, Nicholas Berry, said he did not ask for a pre-sentence report by the probation service on behalf of his client but did ask that Judge Jim Tindal set a date for the sentence of all three defendants. A date of Monday, February 14 was set.

Gormley, appearing in a videolink, gave the judge the double thumbs up and said: "Yeah, brilliant."

In the meantime Gormley was remanded in custody. Hart had also been remanded in custody on Friday.

The defendant was told by the judge: "Any time served on remand counts towards sentence."
