TIME is running out for a housing developer to meet a deadline for work to be completed on an 'unfinished' housing estate.

Developer St Modwen told us in early November final touches were underway to Weogoran Park with a 12-week deadline set.

At the time St Modwen even said work could be completed by Christmas.

Some work had been completed and workers were spotted on the estate working on pavements, when a reporter visited earlier this week.

However, there is still a lot to be completed including roads and pavements in Beltex Drive, Dalesbred Place and the Romney Way entrance road to the estate off Whittington Road.

Pavements and roads remain crumbling and broken up in places, while there are high kerbs and potholes to negotiate in places.

One resident of Beltex Drive, who didn't wish to be named, said: "The workers have been out and started a pavement in recent days. It is just really slow progress."

We again contacted the developer to ask whether the work was still on schedule.

 

A St Modwen spokesman said the firm had nothing further to add to its original statement.

It said: "We have already been in dialogue with residents regarding completion of the road works at the first phase of Weogoran Park in order to give notice that said works were commencing, and have commenced (on November 9).

"The scope of works was agreed with Worcestershire County Council in October following the completion of the neighbouring care facility in August.

"The works will be completed over a 12-week period.

"Works include kerb replacements and footpath tarmac repairs, final road surfacing, street signage and lighting.”

The 120-home Weogoran Park development has had various issues over the years, including when residents said builders parking around the estate meant they were forced to wait more than 20 minutes on the busy Whittington Road section of the dual carriageway.

Residents said in November that the estate "looked rubbish" and that it was "disgusting" it had been left unfinished after building work originally began.
