A CITY curry house has been shortlisted for a prestigious award for its food.

The team at Balti Mahal said they are honoured to have been shortlisted for the Good Food Awards 2023

The curry house in Astwood Road were emailed this week to tell them they have once again made the shortlist.

Mazeduk Hasan Shakil, management at Balti Mahal, said: “We feel so honoured and privileged to have such recognition for our efforts and serving our friends and neighbours great food.

"It goes onto show that our immense passion, effort, and dedication for the local ward has paid off with multiple awards from Good Food Award and LUXlife.

"We want to take this opportunity to thank our friends and neighbours for supporting us during the covid-19 pandemic.

"We are also pledging to our local community that we wouldn’t only serve delicious meals, but we will support our local ward with either fundraising for NHS, feeding the homeless and social events for charities, etc.”

Balti Mahal was selected as one of the winners of the Good Food Award in 2020 and were also named in the awards in 2021 too.

The award is based on the Indian takeaway restaurant's performance, hygiene rating, customer reviews and its contribution to the community.

The restaurant and takeaway has a 4.5 rating on TripAdvisor with a recent review saying: "Just had their chefs special, belijuri moris...wow !

"Great depth of flavour and good heat, with tender chicken.

"We also love the Honey Chicken, a mild dish but full of flavour. Great friendly delivery."
