BUILDING work at the city's newest Lidl supermarket has reached an important stage.

Customers will not have to wait too much longer until they can get their hands on bargains at the discount supermarket.

Ashfield Land said all is going well on site with the build of the new Lidl on Droitwich Road.

Work is on programme to hand the building over to Lidl in the spring when the store will be fitted, stocked and the staff trained before opening.

Lidl will then do the fit-out so it is ready to welcome customers by the summer.

Paul Jagroop, director at Ashfield Land, said: “With the building frame now in place, the roof on and the construction team making good progress, everyone can see the potential for this important regeneration of the JVM Castings site coming to life.

"As we complete the structure, we’ll shortly move on to putting the floor, services and cladding for the building in place.

"It’s an exciting transformation and we’re looking forward to handing the building over to Lidl in the spring so the store can open later this summer.”

The building frame is now in place with the roof fully installed and the photovoltaic, also known as Solar electricity panels, features in place.

Worcester News:

The floor, building cladding and the services into the building such as electric will be installed over the next four to six weeks.

The work will see the new Lidl supermarket built on part of the JVM Castings site off Droitwich Road.

Contractor Benniman Construction has moved JVM's car park and rebuilt it to make way for the new supermarket.
