EMERGENCY temporary traffic lights are being set up on a busy road near the city centre.

Severn Trent Water (STW) staff are out in Castle Street, at the junction with Farrier Street, due to a sunken sluice valve that needs to be repaired.

SWT says: "Supply and pressure problems. We're now working to get the problem fix.

"We're sorry it's taken longer than we'd planned to fix this.

"We're working hard to make sure this is done as quickly as possible."

Worcestershire Highways says temporary traffic lights are being set up, and repairs are set to be completed tomorrow.

"Traffic delays are to be expected," Worcestershire Highways warn.

Meanwhile there have been reports of problems with the temporary traffic lights on the A38 Kempsey, by The Crown pub.

Worcestershire Highways says the issue has been reported to Cadent Gas, which set up the lights for gas main works.

The AA says: "Temporary traffic lights for gas main works have failed. Slow traffic due to traffic signal failure on A38 Main Road."

Worcestershire Highways have reminded motorists to drive carefully through the site while the problem is ongoing.
