TRIBUTES have been paid to a woman who tragically died in a house fire who has been named locally as Mandy Rowe.

The 37-year-old mum was pulled out of the fire at Meadow Court, off Meadow Way in Droitwich, on Tuesday night but, despite efforts to save her, she died at the scene.

Flowers have been left outside the front door of the property, with notes of condolences written for Mandy Rowe and her family.

Friend Aaron, who lives not far from the house, said: "I knew her well, we both grew up on the Westlands estate.

"She was a diamond, she was always smiling. It is heartbreaking, a real tragedy."

Among the tributes on social media Selena Davies wrote: "RIP Mandy. My thoughts are with your girls and family."

Maximus Townsend said: "So tragic. My thoughts go out to the family - RIP Mandy, lovely girl."

Gemma Peach wrote: "Totally Shocked. Sleep tight Mandy Rowe."

A police cordon had been removed from the terraced house by yesterday lunchtime

Police officers who had been at the scene throughout Wednesday had also all left by Thursday morning.

Windows of the house on the first floor were still open, the frames smoke damaged, and the smell of smoke was still in the air.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said in a statement: "Crews from Worcester, Bromsgrove and Droitwich attended, as well as the incident command unit from Wyre Forest.

"The first crew was met with a fire on the first floor of a terraced house with one person reported missing.

"Despite receiving advanced trauma care at the scene and being quickly transported by ambulance, the woman sadly died.

"The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by our specialist fire investigation officers."

A West Mercia Police spokesman added: "We are now working with the fire service as we carry out investigations to establish the cause of the fire.”
