THE ORGANISERS behind a popular car boot sale have released a disappointing update.

Bargain hunters were disappointed to find out Ketch Car Boot Sale would not be going ahead this year.

Plans to move the car boot sale to Upton upon Severn have fallen through and the hunt is on for a new site in Worcester for 2023.

A statement from the organisers said: "Due to a change in circumstances, we won't now be able to go ahead with our plans to move to Upton and so, unfortunately, the car boot sale won't be running this year.

"We are still looking out for a suitable new site in the Worcester area to reopen next year, however, so keep following our page for updates on what we'll be doing in the future."

Ketch car boot sale is closed this year

The Ketch Car Boot used to be held by the Ketch roundabout next to the A4440 Southern Link Road in Worcester.

However, the car boot had to find a new home after the field was sold to make way for affordable housing built on the former Ketch car boot site

In 2020, the covid pandemic brought a halt to the popular event and the following year it moved to a new field along Broomhall Way dual carriageway.

It is traditionally held every Sunday and bank holiday Mondays from 6am until about 1pm.

The car boot usually attracts hundreds of shoppers as well as regular stall holders.

As well as ongoing roadworks at the Ketch roundabout, there has also been a number of homes built in the area too.

Last month, Living Space Housing and social housing provider Stonewater revealed proposals to build 79 homes on the former Aston Coaches depot off Bath Road between Worcester and Kempsey.

The application was formally put forward last month but was removed within days from the council’s planning lists because of missing information.

If given the green light, the development would sit between an already approved 92-home plan on the former Ketch car boot site next to Worcester and another 82-home plan on the corner of Bath Road and Broomhall Lane which is still to be decided.
