THE families of two men killed in a horror crash on the A449 have left touching tributes at the side of the dual carriageway.

Balloons, flowers and written tributes have been placed by the families and friends of Tim Yapp and James Duffy along the grass verge of the dual carriageway near Ombersley.

The two men died in a head-on crash after Mr Duffy was believed to have accidentally driven in the wrong direction on Wednesday, March 2.

Colourful lilies left for Mr Duffy read: "James. We are broken. Life will never be the same!

"Please come home. We love you so, so much. Love all the family xxxxxxx"

Tributes have also been left for Mr Yapp with a blue star saying "Shine bright Tim xxx"

The tributes appeared at the weekend with several balloons, a pile of flowers left on the ground and even more floral tributes tied to a fence.

Mr Yapp, a 50-year-old grandfather from Kidderminster, was driving to his job in Worcester before the fatal crash.

Both Mr Yapp and 37-year-old father-of-two James Duffy, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Jack Hodgkins, Mr Yapp’s stepson, said he was a dedicated family man who “did not have a bad bone in his body”.

“He saved the life of my mum in December. She went into cardiac arrest and he helped bring her back, lying her on her side and talking to her.

“Tim was a loving family man devoted to his fiancee, kids and step kids and even the extended family.

“Tim was a man who would go miles out of his way to do anything for anyone who needed help. He was a genuinely good man and not a soul has a bad word to say about him.

“His unexpected death has left a huge void in the family.”

Mr Duffy’s sister, Fiona Hall, said: “He was a funny and loving man who lived life to the fullest. He was very adventurous and loved anything that involved outdoors or a challenge.

“He was an amazing dad to his nine-year-old son Jackson and to his step-son Cameron."

The 37-year-old had just started a new job as a pub chef and was on his way home.

West Mercia Police said in a statement: "While the investigation is ongoing, officers believe that one of the cars, a white Ford Mondeo, was travelling in the wrong direction and will have joined the A449 after taking the incorrect slip road and collided with an oncoming car, a black Vauxhall Astra.
