A MAN who tried to sell counterfeit cigarettes in Worcester is to appear in court again next month.
Ali Ahmad, of Shap Drive, Worcester, is charged with 11 counts of possessing goods with a false trademark for sale or hire.
This is in relation to allegations he tried to sell fake Marlboro, Amber Leaf, Richmond, Mayfair and Benson and Hedges cigarettes in Worcester between July 2020 and September 2021.
In addition, Ahmad, whose age was not recorded on court documents, indicated a guilty plea to these charges, as well as four charges of producing or supplying a tobacco product in breach of packaging regulations.
There were also four charges of producing or supplying a tobacco product in packaging not containing a combined health warning.
The charges allege Ahmad had in his possession a number of 50g packets of rolling tobacco and dozens of packs of cigarettes, a number of which had the wrong labelling and no health warnings attached.
The case against Ahmad was adjourned until April 8 at Worcester Magistrates Court so a pre-sentence report can be made.
This is after his initial hearing in Worcester on March 4 this year.
