A TODDLER has died in hospital after being bitten by a dog at a property in Worcestershire.

The two-year-old boy died from his injuries in hospital after Monday's attack, West Mercia Police Superintendent Rebecca Love, local policing commander for South Worcestershire, announced at a press conference.

Here is the timeline of events based and what we know so far:

Monday, March 28:

Police are called to an address at Egdon, Worcestershire at 11.20am after reports of a boy in cardiac arrest.

Shortly after, the boy was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital before being transferred to Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Tuesday, March 29

West Mercia Police release a statement confirming the boy was in a "critical but stable" condition in hospital.

The force also confirmed three dogs had been taken from the address.

Officers also said at the time that they did not believe the dogs were banned under the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Wednesday, March 29

West Mercia Police superintendent Rebecca Love holds a press conference outside Worcester Police Station where she confirmed the boy had died.

In her statement, she said: "This is a truly tragic incident and our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time."

Superintendent Love also confirmed the boy had been bitten by a dog and had died from his injuries.

What we still do not know

West Mercia Police did not allow questions at the press conference outside the police station in Castle Street.

We still do not know the breed of the dogs or how many were involved in the attack as well as if there have been any arrests over the death.
