A MAN who dropped his trousers and exposed his genitals to workmen has returned to court to admit to crashing a van when he was uninsured and had no licence.

Jason Gregory admitted five traffic offences when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on Wednesday, (March 30).

The 41-year-old admitted driving without due care and attention, failing to stop after a road accident, failing to report an accident to police within 24 hours of it happening, using a vehicle in a public place without third party insurance and driving without licence.

David Whittaker, prosecuting, told magistrates Gregory, of Barnards Green Road, Malvern, had been driving in High Street, Evesham, at 6.15pm on August 7 last year.

"Mr Gregory was the driver of a Ford Transit van in High Street, when he failed to observe stationary traffic ahead and has gone into the rear of a Peugeot 107," Mr Whittaker said.

"After the collision, Mr Gregory has driven around the Peugeot and driven on his way.

"Significant damage was caused to the rear of the Peugeot - the bodywork was heavily crumpled.

"Checks revealed he didn't have a licence and wasn't insured to drive the vehicle.

"The vehicle was not displaying L plates at the time."

Mr Whittaker said in a police interview Gregory had said he was giving a friend a lift at the time, and accepted he had never passed a driving test.

The prosecutor added Gregory had panicked and drove off after the crash.

Gregory, defending himself, was asked if he wanted to say anything about what happened to which he replied "It's exactly how he (Mr Whittaker) said it.

"I was in the wrong I accept it."

Gregory was asked about his financies, in anticipation of having to pay court fines, to which he replied that he worked as a labourer and had a job secured to start within a month.

After returning 10-minute from a deliberation delibration to decide sentencing, magistrates returned and chairman of the bench, Harris Markou, said they had decided Gregory should face a community order due to the seriousness of the offence.

The chairman said he was adjourning the case for a pre-sentence report and warned Gregory he must return for the next hearing of the case, at Worcester Magistrates Court on April 5 or a warrant could be issued for his arrest.

We reported on Gregory's last appearance at the court in August, when he admitted exposing himself to workmen close to a school in a row over a blocked drive.
