A RAF aircraft was spotted flying over Worcester and the Cotswolds last night causing quite a stir.

The aircraft, understood to be a RAF Voyager, was spotted by residents in the sky at around 11.30pm last night (Wednesday).

The military plane flew over Worcester, Evesham and the Cotswolds.

One person who spotted the plane over Worcester tweeted: "Since the whole Ukraine situation started I have noticed that the RAF plane has been flying around a lot more.

"This evening I spotted the RAF plane flying low over me, and when I say low I mean I could see the headlights."

FlightRadar24 said the plane was a Airbus Voyager KC3 that was cruising at around 52,000ft on its way back to Brize Norton.

A RAF spokesman confirmed a RAF Voyager had been flying in skies across the county on a routine training activity on Wednesday evening.

The planes are known as one of the most versatile and modern aircraft in the Royal Air Force.

Voyagers are used in both air-to-air refuelling and in passenger and troop transport, as well as cargo and logistics.

The RAF spokesman added there was also a A330 aircraft, operated by a civilian company, which utilises Brize Norton and its assets for moving freight around that may also have been spotted in the skies late on Wednesday night.
