Eastnor Castle Mud Bath going ahead as Mud Runner cancelled

The organisers of Mud Runner announced last week that the Eastnor Castle race would not go ahead due to low sales.

However, runners will get the chance to battle through the mud at the iconic venue later this year, with the Mud Bath, organised by Relish Running, still going ahead.

Relish Running coach Tom Room said: “We have been holding the event annually since 2016 and in 2021, we actually had a sell-out event.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for family, friends and businesses to bring people together again for some much-needed fun times.

“The events are for all ages, all levels of fitness and experience.”

Runners will get the chance to run through the Eastnor Castle grounds, including the estate swamp

In 2021, runners could take part in 10km, 6km, 3km, and 1.5km races around the castle grounds, including the estate swamp and the muddy woodland trails.

This year, on October 9, participants will get to enjoy a hog roast and drinks after the run, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free alternatives also on offer.

There will also be medals up for grabs for anyone who finishes.

Organisers say the Mud Bath is suitable for all the family

It was announced last week that May's Mud Runner at Eastnor Castle was cancelled because of low ticket sales.

The annual event usually attracts hundreds of runners from across the country to Eastnor Castle, near Ledbury, to take on the challenging course.

The organisers said in a statement: "Well folks it's with great disappointment that we are having to take the decision to cancel Mud Runner 2022 and sadly this time it will not be rescheduled.

"Live events are still being hit badly with slow sales so please support the ones that are still out there.

"Thank you to everyone who signed up and we are gutted to disappoint you. We are particularly gutted about all of those doing this to raise money for causes.

"This is Mud Runner signing out once and for all."
