Arguably Pot Noodle’s biggest fan comes from right here in Worcestershire.

Dan Pugh, 53 and from Pershore, has eaten more than 4,000 of the snacks in his lifetime, having eaten one every day for almost a decade now.

He has also spent more than £3,000 on memorabilia dedicated to the noodle, including t-shirts, towels, signs, and a Chicken Korma pot signed by 90s model Caprice Bourret.

One of Dan’s latest purchases, a £500 vending machine which plays music, contained a 14-year-old out of date Beef and Tomato pot, which he tucked into for charity, raising £3,500 for a six-year-old boy with a rare blood condition.

He said: “They tasted awful. I could only imagine licking the bottom of my granny’s knicker drawer.

“There is no real way to describe the taste - you’d have to try one yourself!

“My friend said 'try the juice’ as a joke, and next thing you know we were nearly throwing up everywhere.

“We’re probably ill now – we’ve probably started the noodle virus!"

Dan’s favourite flavour is Chicken and Mushroom, but he also has a soft spot for Bombay Bad Boy.

But that is just the tip of the iceberg, as Dan has collected more than 50 flavours including a Christmas Dinner pot which cost him £60.

He first began his fanaticism about 30 years ago and became hooked when he began taking them out with him on his metal detecting expeditions.

Now his friends call him ‘Mr Noodle’ or ‘Noodle King’.

Dan said: “Everyone likes a Pot Noodle on the field.

“It only needs a bit of hot water - it’s better than a cold sandwich!

“The next thing you know the guys all seem to get a kick out of it, and I become the Noodle King, and they all started bringing me Pot Noodles.”

Dan does have his boundaries though, limiting himself to one pot noodle a day.

He then washes out the pots and uses them to pour plaster at work.

He added: “I like Pot Noodles because they are a quick, easy, tasty snack.

“I look at the shelves at work and think ‘do I really eat that many?’"

He stores his clobber in his office at home, to the dismay of his wife Louise Pugh, 49.

“She thinks I’m nuts!” he said.
