Pershore Carnival made its long-awaited return following a two year absence with hundreds flocking to the town to join in the fun.

Having been brought forward due to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the Carnival offered something for everyone.

Councillor Julian Palfrey, Pershore’s Town Mayor, was delighted to see the return of such a key event for the town.

Speaking before the festivities got underway, he said: “It is absolutely fantastic to see the carnival return after their absence over the last two years.

"This is a hugely important date in Pershore’s events calendar and attracts residents and visitors alike.”

The main event of the day was the parade with crowds lining the street to cheer on the dozen or so floats and community groups making their way around Pershore.

Pershore Rugby Club, Pershore Women's Institute, and Abbey Park School were among those to join in.

This year’s parade theme was ‘1952-2022: Inventions of the past 70 years’.

Walking alongside the parade were volunteers collecting donations for this year’s partner charities, Pershore and District Disabled Swimmers and the Pershore and Evesham Downs Syndrome Support Group.

The parade arrived at Abbey Park at around 1.30pm where carnival-goers had an almost endless amount of activities to get stuck into, including ferret racing, go-karts, live music, a Kick ‘n Stick, rugby sessions, a dog show and a funfair.
