A LARGE police presence that was gathered at Gheluvelt park was due to a fight.

Police confirmed that a fight had broken out between three people in the park.

One man was taken to hospital for non-life changing injuries and police are still investigating.

A spokesperson from West Mercia Police said: "Around 6.15pm on Friday, April 29, officers received a report of a fight between three people in Gheluvelt Park, Worcester.

"Officers attended and one man was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital with a non-life changing injury.

"No other injuries were reported and enquiries are ongoing."

An eyewitness saw an ambulance and five police cars were parked near the popular family park in Barbourne at about 6.30pm. 

Upon arrival at the scene, a group of four officers were stationed at the foot of Barbourne Lane, off of Barbourne Road, with two police cars parked at either end of the road.

The remaining emergency service vehicles left the scene. 

Customers sitting outside of The Swan Inn pub on Barbourne Road told a Worcester News reporter that they had seen police talking to a man with a "ripped shirt".
