An 86-year-old man was treated for trauma after a collision in Tenbury Wells.

The crash involved a 4x4 vehicle, which was driven by the man, which crashed into a hedge near the Newnham Bridge, on the A443.

One crew from Tenbury Wells and another from Wyre Forest attended the scene. 

The bridge was closed by West Mercia Police after the collision, at approximately 9.07pm.

A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue said: " We were called to the scene where a 4x4 vehicle, driven by an 87-year-old man, had crashed into a hedge.

"We assisted the man out of the vehicle and treated him for trauma care at the scene until the ambulance arrived.

"We were unable to stabilise the vehicle due to the position it was in, so vehicle recovery was arranged.".

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "Police were called shortly after 8pm yesterday (Tuesday 3 May) following a report of a collision on the A443 at Newnham Bridge, Tenbury Wells.

"Officers attended for traffic management in support of colleagues from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue and West Midlands Ambulance Service."

The man was not believed to have received serious injuries, according to the ambulance service.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 8.19pm to reports of a road traffic collision involving one car at the junction of the A443 and A456, Newnham Bridge in Tenbury Wells.

"One ambulance attended the scene. Upon arrival, we found an elderly man who was extricated from the vehicle by the fire service.

"He was assessed by ambulance staff at the scene, He had sustained injuries not believed to be serious. He received self-care advice and was discharged at the scene.”
