A POPULAR riverside path in Worcester is still showing no signs of reopening.

People who regularly enjoy walking along with The Slip in Northwick had originally hoped to see the path restored quickly.

Cllr Mel Alcott, city councillor for Claines ward, said that despite the long closure there is still no new signs of a re-opening.

Cllr Alcott said: " We are still working towards various solutions and there is no real update at the moment.

"Officers met residents recently in the area, but everything is very much still a work in progress.

"When the election period is out of the way, hopefully, we can get refocused and try to get more done in the area."

Natural erosion has made the path unsafe for walkers and led to a section being closed off from Northwick Lido to steps down to the river near Chacewater Avenue since March.

Residents eager to see the return of the popular walking route along the river Severn have placed signs asking for its return amid fears that it could be lost for good.

There was more outrage when the beauty spot was fenced off by an eight-foot steel fence in September 2021.
