NEW play equipment could be coming to a park in Pershore.

A zipwire for older children and a trim trail for all ages are among the ideas for play equipment for Abbey Park.

The plans could become a reality thanks to the possibility of a £45,000 grant.

Pershore Town Council has put in two bids for money from Wychavon District Council’s Community Legacy Grant, aimed at fulfilling the priorities of the adopted Town Plan.

The Pershore Youth Council has been fundraising for several years in the hope of installing a zipwire at the park.

The Town Council is also looking for a site for a trim trail in order to encourage residents of all ages and abilities to take part in exercise.

The document outlining the plan adds: “There is very little informal exercise equipment that is free to use in Pershore and it is felt that this would be a well-used extra facility on the park.

“It is hoped the trim trail would incorporate a mixture of timber and steel equipment to provide a mix of exercises in keeping with the surrounding area.”

The exact location of the trim trail would be decided in conjunction with Wychavon District Council.

The plans would not require planning permission and, if successful with the grant, work could be completed relatively quickly.

Pershore Town Council is now asking residents to share their thoughts about the project.

Residents can visit the Town Hall or Library to pick up a consultation document, or download it here.

Responses must be sent back to the Town Hall before Friday, May 20.

There will also be a face-to-face consultation outside the Town Hall on Saturday, May 14, from 10am to 12pm.

Members of the Town Council will be available to answer any questions regarding the proposals.
