A MAN has been banned from drinking alcohol for four months after breaching a restraining order.

Hussain Akhtar, of St Paul’s Street, Worcester, must abstain from consuming any alcohol for 120 days.

This comes after Akhtar, 39, was sentenced for several breaches of a restraining order imposed on him by Worcester Magistrates’ Court on October 21, 2019.

The first breach came on July 18, 2020, when he telephoned Ghousia Saeed three times when he was banned from doing so.

The following month, on August 26, Akhtar phoned Ms Saeed and attended her home address.

A day later he phoned her again.

Akhtar was also charged with causing damage to a car wing mirror, to the value of £8, belonging to Ms Saeed.

He pleaded guilty to the damage and indicated a plea of guilty to all three restraining order breaches on April 4, 2022, and on Monday, May 9, Akhtar was handed a community order at Redditch Magistrates Court.

As well as being made to abstain from alcohol, Akhtar must submit to arrangements for monitoring by, or on behalf of, a responsible officer.

He must comply with any instructions of the responsible officer and attend appointments, with the officer or a person nominated by them, or participate in any activity required by the officer up to a maximum of 40 days.

He has until November 8, 2023, to complete these requirements.

He must also pay £200 in compensation by June 6, 2022.

Also on May 9, Akhtar was re-sentenced for harassment and beating offences that occurred in 2020.

He was charged with harassing a Ms Manton by calling her phone, as well as sending voicemails and text messages to her between June 10 and 12.

He was also charged with assaulting Ms Manton on June 10.

For these two offences a further community order was imposed on Akhtar requiring him to complete 110 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.
