IF you’re going to survive for any length of time in business, it pays to be creative.
Handy then, that one of the longest-running hair salons in Worcester goes by the name of Creations.
Run by Kevin Clee, the hair and beauty salon in Sidbury has been around for four decades – no mean feat given the turbulence of the last few years.
Kevin said: “It has always been a very happy place to work and it’s like one big extended family. We have four generations of some families!”
Not only is Kevin extremely proud of having achieved 40 years in business,he can also look back on a meeting with Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall when they visited the Commandery, as well as a charity parachute jump.
And he takes great pleasure in the fact that numerous girls who learned their trade at Creations have gone on to run their own successful businesses.
Of course, when you’ve been working in a salon for that long, you’re bound to have picked up a few strange requests or overheard the odd comment.
Like all good salons, discretion is the byword: “Most stories cannot be published,” says Kevin. “But we did overhear two grandmothers discussing a family wedding.
“One said she was wearing a hat and asked her friend if she was. Her friend replied ‘My daughter-in-law wants me to wear a fornicater’.
“The salon was in stitches!”
