THIEVES have stripped 140m of copper cable from a solar farm near Worcester.

Thieves targetted Croome Airfield Solar Farm, in Woodmancote, Defford, to take the valuable cable. 

The 60-acre solar farm was built on part of the former RAF Defford site.

Police are now appealing for information regarding the theft.

PCSO Julia Pardoe said: "We are appealing for information after 95m and 45m of copper cable were stolen from a solar farm in Woodmancote, Defford.

"The theft occurred approximately on April 27, when the copper cable was stolen from the solar farm on Turnpike Cottage Service Road.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who may have any information relating to the theft of these items or that may have been in the area around the time of the incident and heard or seen anything suspicious.

"There are some simple but effective things you can do to help protect your property - where possible remove all valuable items from your vehicle before leaving it unattended.

"We are also encouraging the community to call us on 101 if they see anyone acting suspiciously around a vehicle."
