EMERGENCY service teams were spotted in Worcester after reports of a person in the canal.

Teams from Hereford and Worcester Fire Service and West Mercia Police were spotted in Diglis in the early hours of Sunday morning (May 15).

A spokesperson for the fire service confirmed they had assisted the police in their efforts, but that no one had been found.

They said two boats, two regular crews and a fire officer had all attended the scene, with the search taking place at around 1.30am.

A witness saw the Fire Service vehicles at the Commandery petrol station, with them reportedly leaving the scene at around 4am.

They said they could also see torches shining along the canal at that time too.
