With September 2022 quickly approaching, it will soon be time for children in Worcester to be stepping into school for the first time.

While some schools are full with 100 per cent of their allocations being filled, other schools are vastly lacking children to join them next year.

The two schools with the lowest intake rates are Dines Green Primary School and Our Lady Queen of Peace Primary School.

Both schools are only 33.3 per cent filled with 10 pupils being allocated spaces and 30 spaces being available.

Dafydd Lawday, chief executive officer at Dines Green Primary School, said: “The projected Dines Green intake has been taken into consideration by offering a Reception – Year 1 class arrangement for the second consecutive year.

"The school has exciting and dynamic development plans that commence September 2022.

"This investment in the school site and learning provision will prepare for the increased demands that adjacent housing developments will undoubtedly bring and secure a positive future ahead for the school and local communities."

We have contacted Our Lady Queen of Peace Primary School for a comment.

The other schools with a low intake are St George's C of E Primary School, which is only 40% full, and Stanley Road Primary School, which is only 56.7% full.

The schools which are 100 per cent full are Carnforth School, Claines C.E. Primary School, Pitmaston Primary School, Red Hill C.E. Primary School, St Clement's C.E. Primary School, St George's Catholic Primary School and Whittington C.E. Primary School.

Northwick Manor Primary School is only 90 per cent full, despite having to run an additional class in the past due to being so over subscribed.

Headteacher, Sian Williams, said: "Cohort numbers change yearly and numbers are often variable.

"We will be running three classes as normal next academic year and we are still receiving enquires about places for September 2022."

In 2022, 1,113 children have been allocated places in Worcester schools, whilst in 2021 only 1,029 children started school in Worcester.
